Intellectual Property Law
Intellectual property law deals with the question of the legal protection of intangible assets (in particular: patent law, trademark law, design law, copyright law). There is a tension between intellectual property and freedom of the public domain that must be constantly explored.
Current research questions on the structure of intellectual property rights are raised in particular by digitalization.
With regard to the internet, the focus is primarily on copyright law (e.g. streaming/linking/embedded content).
Fundamental issues are also of interest:
- On the one hand, the interface between intellectual property law and general civil law is of particular interest.
- On the other hand, overarching principles in intellectual property law (general part of intellectual property) are sought.
